Interreg

Enhance your innovation capability

Could your project help strengthen Europe’s innovation capability and contribute to a healthier environment? Interreg offers entrepreneurs, researchers and government agencies the opportunity to collaborate on international sustainability projects.

About Interreg

Interreg aims to strengthen Europe and reduce economic disparities between regions and Member States by stimulating cooperation projects. In various programmes, countries and regions work together in different ways on innovation, research, sustainable energy, climate adaptation and transport. Interreg has three strands of cooperation: cross-border (Interreg A), transnational (Interreg B) and interregional (Interreg C). The cooperation programmes in these strands are organised according to geographic location, and shared challenges and goals.

Interreg A: cross-border cooperation

Interreg A programmes are cross-border cooperation programmes in border regions in all 28 EU Member States.

Interreg B: transnational programmes

Interreg B programmes are transnational and involve regions from several EU countries. These programmes cover larger areas than Interreg A programmes. The fifteen Interreg B programmes in Europe focus on issues such as innovation, sustainability, urban development, transport and telecommunications.

Interreg C: interregional cooperation

Interreg C supports interregional cooperation that focuses on improving the implementation of regional policy throughout Europe. The three Interreg C strand programmes include Interreg Europe.

Who can apply?
